A small shop building one good thing.
ForumFrame is built and run from Lisbon. We make hosted forums for communities that care about their corner of the internet.
ForumFrame started because the existing options were slowly hollowing out. Discord ate the threads. Discourse stalled. Skool made everything look like a course. There wasn't a place that read like social media and ran like software you'd want to use.
So this one got built. Not chasing the enterprise community market, the brand-community market, or the creator-economy market. The audience is niche-community founders — people who run something specific and want a home for it.
In context, not on the next page.
Edit a category in place, change a theme without a modal, save with a pill not a confirmation. The marketing site you’re reading behaves the same way the product does.
The community owns its content.
Data export available on every tier, in open formats. Custom domain on Maker means the community survives ForumFrame leaving the market.
Pricing without asterisks.
Three tiers, on the page. No "contact sales" for basics. No surprise overage. Hobby is free forever.
Built in public.
Public changelog, open V3/V4 docs. We answer our own email at hello@forumframe.com.
One person, most days.
Nico writes the engine, builds the theme studio, designs the chrome, and authored the icon set one a day for three months. Working out of Lisbon, shipping on a weekly cadence, answering support email between coffee.
No growth team, no sales engineer, no roadmap marketing. The preference is getting one product right rather than three products okay. When a hire happens, it'll be one person, named in the changelog.
V4 Extension Suite rollout.
The Council shipped (governance + proposals + dissent log). Chronicle (campaign log) and Library (book-shelf for writing communities) are next. Each is one toggle in the dashboard.
Paid-membership Suite.
Stripe Connect, member roles tied to subscriptions, invite-only categories. Optional, not central. The platform stays free to use.
Federation. AI-light features. V5.
ActivityPub for cross-forum threading. Tagged search across the whole platform. AI helpers for moderation only — never for writing. Specific, narrow, optional.
Made with care. From Lisbon, weekly.
